Safety for small machines

Landquart
, The safety light curtain Safe400 of the CEDES Safety & Automation AG works for years in the most different ranges of application. As one of the worldwide most compact safety light curtains, it is used where the space conditions are very scarce.

A typical example for such an application is the new ultrasonic welding-machine. “HiQ evolution” from Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Karlsbad, Germany. The HiQ Evolution is used particularly for the welding of thermoplastic plastics. Although only recently introduced to the market, the machine could already create a good name due to its efficiency, user-friendliness and flexibility.

The acess area of the machine is secured by the Safe400. Accordingly for Mr. Ferenc Miler, design engineer at Herrmann Ultraschall, the compact dimensions were important for the decision of which light curtain to use. “The slim light curtain can be integrated into the machine that neither ergonomics or design of the machine, would be limit. Maximum safety is ensured in each situation. For the operator as well as for the area sourrounding, but also for the surrounding the machine.”
In the “HiQ Evolution” still another CSA products is used. The complete safety monitoring, of the safety light curtain, the emergency stop button and the protective doors, is taken over with the safety controller SafeC400.

Ferenc Miler is satisfied. “We can reduce the wiring expenditure to a minimum with this controller. With SafeC 400, we can reduce the need for individual, expensive safety relays. The characteristics of the Safe400 and the SafeC 400 fullfil the newest safety regulations.”
